3 ways to style: a coffee table

Same coffee table (which was an absolute steal from Very if you’re interested) , styled three very different ways and below I’ll be giving you my take on the perfect props to style yours. Sound good? Keep scrolling!

When it comes to interior design I’m kinda greedy. I don’t subscribe to a specific style tribe. To me, shabby chic is just as appealing as the minimalist Scandi look! I think you can blend styles together using a common colour palette and create your own unique style, because who wants to be boring and predictable, right? That’s why I’ve decided to create a 3 ways to style series and this month the spotlight is on Coffee Tables.

There’s nothing I love better than blog posts about how to style your furniture! Especially one’s with lots of gorgeous photos showing how amazing your home could look without kids sticky fingerprints on everything. Or your husbands wallet and keys appearing on every imaginable surface. Is that just our house?

5 things you need to style the perfect coffee table

The good news is you probably already have everything you need around the house!

Books or magazines

Coffee table books are the perfect way to express your personality and are perfect for guests to flick through while you’re making them a cuppa. Ideally your books will match your colour scheme. Magazine’s work well too although probably not the trashy celeb gossip one’s, let’s just hide them.

Something unique

Oh how I love a wild card! Something quirky will liven up your coffee table and create a talking point. In fact the bird ornament, which usually perches on the bookshelf, flew off one day and landed next to me on the floor. I still baffles me to this day how it happened.

Flowers or greenery

This adds some texture and height to your table. If you want a soft and elegant look add some fresh flowers or if you’d prefer a modern more edgy look, a terrarium with succulents is perfect.

Tray or bowl

A tray is ideal for keeping things neat and grouping items together, so they don’t look lost. I also love the scented balls (!) in the bowl from the classic country look, although neutral they add lots of interesting patterns into the mix.

Candles and lanterns

Lanterns are another good way to add height to your coffee table and atmosphere of course, once the evening draws in, there’s nothing like the flicker of candles to make you feel all cosy and warm.

Which one do you like best? Let me know in the comments below.

Caroline, I thought for sure when I saw the first one it was going to be my favorite by far. I love the different mentals. But I really love the plant and the clean look of the Scandinavian coffee table. And I do love a little bit of a rustic country look added to our modern decor, I really love the texture of the scented balls, the bird statue and the way you arranged the tray. So I think I have an Eclectic Style and I am going to just swap some things around in our living room and rock my style.
