2017 Interior trends: digging demin blue

2017 Interior trends – what’s new?

When it comes to 2017 interior trends, I’m afraid I’ve got the January blues. Don’t worry they’re the good kind! The Dulux colour of the year 2017, denim drift kind to be precise.

I’ll let you into a little secret. I’m a tad impatient. And by a tad, I mean a strong a 7 out of 10 on the impatiency scale (if such a thing was invented – which it absolutely should not be, because I would not come out well). So naturally, when it comes to my obsession passion for home decor, I want to know what to expect this year.

I’ve done a little research and there are most definitely some interesting influences that will be hitting our high street, when it comes to home decor.

I’ll fill you in on my findings in just a tick, but first I want to talk about some beautiful blue home accessories that have already hit the shops.

1# Anthropologie, Flat woven Isabella rug, from £30.95

I love the  subtle floral pattern on this rug, it’s great for adding some interest and texture to wooden flooring. Plus it’s on sale at the moment, score!

2# Oliver Bonas, Estella mini bowl,£7

How cute is this for adding a blue colour pop. Use it as a jewellery dish on your bedside table or perhaps to corral your keys in the entry hall. I mean, you could be conventional and use it to serve food in, but why would you want to hide it away in a cupboard?

3# MADE, Albert cluster light, £79

Simple and striking, this light cluster is making a statement without overdoing it. I can imagine it looking fantastic hovering over a dining table or breakfast bar.

4# H&M, Round jute table mat, £6.99

I really like the natural version of these jute table mats, but I think this blue is really striking and unusual. I would pair them with gold or brass vintage cutlery, stunning.

5# M&S, Set of 4 Loft Stacking Mugs, £15

I adore the soft water-colour patterns and colours of these mugs. The great thing about stacking mugs is that they are neat enough to sit out on the kitchen side, perfect if you fancy making stylish a hot drinks station.

6# Next, Cotton chambray bed set, Double £25

Chambray was huge in fashion last season and now it looks set to do the same in decor. I’ve seen many chambray bed sets, but I included this one, as I know that Next bedding washes fantastically. I love all the pretty, florals they have styled it with and the industrial edge with the bedside table.

7# Oliver Bonas, Navy velvet ombre cushion,£27

The ombre trend is still hanging on by a thread and I personally love it. These beautiful velvet cushion are full of personality and would certainly liven up any neutral sofa or chair.

So I’m pretty sure that denim blues are going to be popular this year, given the wealth of home accessories that have popped up in the shops already. But, what else is in store for 2017?

Well, I have taken a good look into my crystal ball (AKA google and a million interior mags I read) and here are interior trends we’re going to be drooling over in 2017…

2017 Interior trends

  • Green
  • Denim blue
  • Navy
  • Jewel colours
  • Cork
  • Faux fur
  • Marble
  • Terracotta floor tiles
  • Nature-inspired fabrics
  • Boho glamour
  • Natural textures
  • Mixed metals
  • Artisan ceramics
  • Bringing the outdoors in

I’m not really sure about cork, it reminds me of the bathroom floor tiles we had in the 80s, but the rest sounds pretty good to me!

So, what’s on it’s way out? Apparently quote artwork and copper. But, I think both these trends have a bit more mileage in them, so don’t panic. At the end of the day trends will come and go, but your decor should reflect you and what makes you happy.

What 2017 interior trends do you like the sound of? Let me know in the comments.

Why not pin this for later?
